Teen Vogue: Meet Alden Ehrenreich and Alice Englert, the Stars of ‘Beautiful Creatures’

Alden, can you tell us the crazy story of how you got your start in the entertainment industry?

Alden Ehrenreich: “My friend and I used to make these like silly videos just for ourselves, and his cousin’s friend asked us to make one for her bat mitzvah. In the video, I’m in love with her and I sneak into her house and sing a song about her. I ask her out and she says no, and then I roll around and scream in the dirt. When we showed it to our moms, they said, ‘you can’t you can’t show this. You look like an idiot in this video.’ We didn’t care, and they screened it at the bat mitzvah. I wasn’t there, but Stephen Spielberg was. When he saw me in this video, he thought I was right for one of the parts. I don’t know why because the video is ridiculous! But then I was able to get an agent based on him vouching for me.”

Metro Interview with Alice Englert

“Did you have fun making Beautiful Creatures?

It was great. But what is amazing is that, until I watched the trailer, I didn’t really realise how much I was the main character of the movie. When I took the part I thought it was for one of the side characters and then it evolved. It was great working with Emma Thomson and Viola Davis is simply amazing.”

ALICE ENGLERT GETS HER CREEP ON IN THE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES BOOK TO MOVIE FEATURETTE

With so many book to movie adaptations going on, it’s hard to know whether they’ll be any good or whether directors are going to get carried away being arty farty and completely change the story.

It looks like new film Beautiful Creatures is set to do some serious justice to Kami Garcia’s haunting Caster Chronicles though, and withAlice Englert as Lena and fit newbie Alden Ehrenreich as Ethan, we cannot wait for it to hit the cinemas.”

Reelz: “Today’s Hot Trailer: Beautiful Creatures”

That may not be a surprise to those that have been reading the Beautiful Creaturesseries, but fans might be surprised at how LaGravenese turned the book into a movie. “When I adapted the book I had to give myself the freedom to omit, to recreate, and if I knew too much of how every little plot was entwined I couldn’t get the movie that I wanted to make, I couldn’t tell the best story that I knew how,” said the director. “Hopefully the fans will understand. It’s the same story, it’s the same characters, it’s the same experience.”

Festival di Roma 2012: “Beautiful Creatures, an urban fantasy ‘in the middle of the road between Twilight and Harry Potter’”

Interview from the Roma Cinemafest with Kami and me!

Here’s a translated portion:

When a new saga comes out, labels help the public understand what it’s about. In this case, can we say that your story falls between Twilight and Harry Potter?…”

“Our story is very romantic like Twilight, but, like Harry Potter, our book has a lot of characters that interact with them, especially adults, who are crucial to the story. The magic in our world is different than that of Harry Potter and Twilight, but it’s still magic, so it’s right to say Beautiful Creatures is in between those two books. “

Examiner: “Alden Ehrenreich rumored for role in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ sequel”

A little Alden news!

Alden Ehrenreich is sure to make a splash with his starring role in Beautiful Creatures, but he could also be on his way to joining another blockbuster franchise.

The actor is one of a handful being rumored for the role of Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel — the friend-turned-eventual-nemesis to Spidey.”
